Rouge Staff Review of the Siri

Lelo has always been very well known for their external massagers, that can be used externally solo, as an non threatening device to use on your male partner, or nestled in-between you and your partner during intercourse for that extra buzz.

To date the Lelo Lily and Nea have been the leaders in this type of device, given their pretty little pebble shapes and lovely colours.  Often after a period of use, customers wanted more power in their device and were finding that Lily and Nea were not fulfilling them as they first did at purchase.

We always say using a toy is relative to what you have used before and the body can get used to stronger and stronger vibrations, and often needs this to keep reaching the same highs as before.

So we were thrilled when we heard that Siri was in the pipeline, and that the plan was for it to be more powerful than the previous pebble like models.

When Siri hit the Australian shores in the Winter of 2010 we weren't disappointed.  She is slightly larger than the Lily or Nea and with the new style Lelo buttons we think she is easier to use.  They are larger buttons which are easier to navigate when in the throws of pleasure.  Pleasure which Lelo Siri delivers in abundance. 

Lelo Siri is a larger device overall, more the size of a small computer mouse and within this compact size packs a really powerful buzz that cannot fail to deliver.  The pre-programmed set functions, like the pulsing mode also deliver much stronger vibrations compared to the previous similar models.  Its noticeably different when holding the 2 models in your hand, and now has ladies choosing the Siri as their preferred choice. 

Siri is so new to the market you won't yet find an abundance of online reviews about it, but rest assured as a leading design and innovation company, Lelo offerings keep getting better and better. 

Did we mention that Lelo's Siri also super quiet, and we mean quiet! She is barely audible from one side of a small room to the other, its  very low buzzy sound even at her highest power speed.

We stole 5 mins of Jo R's busy schedule to find out to what she attributes the phenomenal success of Lelo.  Jo is the is the Australian, New Zealand and South African representative of LELO, and as such she has also seen firsthand the surge in demand for female-focussed adult products, but it’s not just about sex.

Internationally coveted, and considered the world’s high-end option, LELO basically produce designer adult toys. The Lelo brand has managed to seamlessly fuse Design, performance, passion and fashion. With brochures styled like fashion pages and a following that elicits invitations to sponsor the likes of Cannes. Jo has even been asked to speak to university design students, so fundamental to the products is how they are crafted.

“It’s no secret that a large proportion of the female population like stylish, aesthetically pleasing things, so when it comes to sex toys it makes sense that the same rules apply,” Jo says.

Looking back at the hideously phallic offerings of the industry’s yesteryear, clearly this was not always the case, and this is where LELO differs. Design is fundamental to the products, the brainchild of 3 friends who interestingly enough spent their days in engineering and design. The story goes that these three men were looking for a fortieth birthday present for a married female friend who had everything, and they thought a sex toy would be a good idea. It’s probably only in Sweden that this scenario could this be considered, but women the world over are thankful for what many would deem a slightly odd choice of gift. The men could find the type of toy they had in mind – namely one that had some sort of design aesthetic and quality – and hence they founded LELO.

“LELO rejects the stereotypical,” Jo says. “There are no cheap plastic buzzers or those traditional phallic shapes that dominate the market of traditional sex toys. LELO products follow contours inspired by the female form, and they’re fully rechargeable, which removes the need for batteries, and for anyone who’s had a Rabbit for example, you know how fast they can chew through them.”

LELO products offer great insight into the mind of today’s sexually confident female, and not just from a design perspective. Like many products stocked by Madame Rouge, the LELO range doesn’t come cheap. Joanna, Australian distributor of LELO, also holds the rights to other high-end adult brands including Scarlet, tickler and Big Teaze Toys, says that when it comes to the most intimate of pleasures, women don’t want to skimp.

“At the time of LELO’s inception, it went against the grain to insist on the highest quality research, design, and manufacturing standards,” she says. “The industry at that time was all about keeping retail prices low, and that meant cutting those corners. There is of course still a market for those lower end products, but stores like Madame Rouge cater to a discerning and design-conscious customer. The designer toys are in demand because they are quality, and consumers are happy to pay for that.”
